The grinding stone is made of synthetic abrasive material and is used in the same way as the diamond grinding stone. The extra coarse side of the stone (grit 100) is used for aggressive metal removal and will sharpen dull or damaged blades very quickly. The other side of the stone (grit 240) is for less aggressive metal removal and should be used to sharpen somewhat dull blades that just need a quick touch-up, or to smooth the edge after sharpening on the extra coarse side.
